حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَا بَهْرَامَ الْإِيذَجِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الدِّرْهَمِيُّ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ قَالَ

اسْتَقْطَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْضًا بِالشَّامِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُفْتَحَ فَأَعْطَانِيهَا فَفَتَحَهَا عُمَرُ فِي زَمَانِهِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْطَانِي أَرْضًا مِنْ كَذَا إِلَى كَذَا فَجَعَلَ عُمَرُ ؓ ثُلُثَهَا لِابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَثُلُثًا لِعِمَارَتِها وَثُلُثًا لَنَا»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant me land in Syria before it was conquered, and he gave it to me. Then Umar conquered it in his time, so I went to him and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me land from such-and-such to such-and-such.' So Umar ؓ made one third of it for the wayfarer, one third for its development, and one third for us.
