✧ When the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was taken on the night journey and morning came upon him in Makkah, he sat apart in sorrow. The enemy of Allah, Abu Jahl, came to him and said, as if mocking, "Did anything happen?" He said, "Yes." He said, "He (i.e., the Prophet) said: 'I was taken by night to the Sacred House (Bayt al-Maqdis).'" He said, "Then you woke up among us?" He said, "Yes." He did not show him that he was denying him, fearing that if he called his people to it they would reject it—the hadith. He said, "What do you think if I call your people to you? Will you tell them what you told me?" He said, "Yes." Abu Jahl said, "O Banu Ka'b b. Lu'ayy, come!" The gatherings dispersed until they sat down before them. Abu Jahl said, "Tell your people what you told me." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I was taken by night." He said, "To where?" He said, "To the Sacred House (Bayt al-Maqdis)." They said, "Then you woke up among us?" He said, "Yes." Some clapped, and some placed his hand on his head in astonishment, saying, "A lie, he claims." Among the people were those who had traveled to that mosque and seen it. They said, "Can you describe the mosque to us?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "I described it to them until some of the description became confused for me." He said, "The mosque was brought forth while I was looking at it, until it was placed near the house of 'Aqil or the house of 'Iqal. I began to describe it while I was looking at it." The people said, "As for the description, by Allah, he has hit the mark."
