حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عُبَادَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ ثنا مُدْرِكُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الطَّائِيُّ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
إِنَّمَا كَانَ نَفْيُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى الطَّائِفِ بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي حُجْرَتِهِ فإِذَا هُوَ إِنْسَانٌ يَطَّلِعُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «الْوَزَغَ الْوَزَغَ» فَنَظَرَ فَإِذَا هُوَ الْحَكَمُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اخْرُجْ لَا تُسَاكِنِّي بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَا بَقِيتُ» فَنَفَاهُ إِلَى الطَّائِفِ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ only banished al-Ḥakam b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ from Madinah to al-Ṭāʾif. While the Prophet ﷺ was in his room, he saw a person peeking at him. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The gecko, the gecko.” He looked, and it was al-Ḥakam. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Leave; do not live with me in Madinah as long as I remain.” So he banished him to al-Ṭāʾif.
