حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُذُوعِيُّ الْقَاضِي ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ الْعَمِّيُّ ثنا سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ
أَبُو جَهْلٍ لَئِنْ عَادَ مُحَمَّدٌ يُصَلِّي خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ لَأَسْطُوَنَّ بِهِ فَقِيلَ هُوَ ذَاكَ يُصَلِّي خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ فَانْطَلَقَ نَحْوَهُ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقَالَ وَاللَّاتِ وَالْعُزَّى لَقَدْ أَظْلَمَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ مِنَ الْكَتَائِبِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَوْ تَحَرَّكَ لَأَخَذَتْهُ الزَّبَانِيَةُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ}

✧ Abu Jahl said, 'If Muhammad returns to pray behind the Maqam, I will certainly assault him.' It was said, 'There he is, praying behind the Maqam.' So he went toward him, then turned back and said, 'By al-Lat and al-Uzza, battalions of [angels] came between me and him.' Ibn Abbas said, 'Had he moved, the guards of Hell would have seized him.' Then he recited: {Let him call his associates; We will call the guards of Hell}.
