حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْخُوَارِزْمِيُّ ثنا سَوَّارُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ كَسْبِ الْإِمَاءِ» قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَلِمَ نَهَى عَنْهِ؟ قَالَ «مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَعْجِزْنَ فَتُعْجَزْنَ»
Translation

✧ I heard Ibn ʿAbbas say: "The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade the earnings of slave women." I said to Ibn ʿAbbas, "And why did he forbid it?" He said: "Out of fear that they would be unable, and then you would be unable."
