حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ إِلَى غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ قَالَ لِلْجَدِّ بْنِ قَيْسٍ «يَا جِدُّ بْنَ قَيْسٍ مَا تَقُولُ فِي مُجَاهَدَةِ بَنِي الْأَصْفَرِ؟» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ صَاحِبُ نِسَاءٍ وَمَتَى أَرَى نِسَاءَ بَنِي الْأَصْفَرِ أُفْتَتَنُ فَائْذَنْ لِي فِي الْجُلُوسِ وَلَا تَفْتِنِّي فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ ائْذَنْ لِي وَلَا تَفْتِنِّي أَلَا فِي الْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا}

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ intended to go out for the expedition of Tabuk, he said to Jadd Ibn Qais, "O Jadd Ibn Qais, what do you say about fighting Bani Asfar (the yellow people)?" Jadd replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who has companionship with women, and whenever I see the women of Bani Asfar (the yellow people), I become tempted. Therefore, grant me permission to stay behind and do not include me in the expedition, so that I do not become tempted." Then Allah ﷻ revealed the verse {And among them are those who say, "Grant me permission [to be exempted from fighting] and do not put me to trial." Unquestionably, they have fallen into trial.}
