حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي اللَّيْثٍ ثنا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ {§وَلَوْ
أَنَّ قُرْآنًا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ الْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ الْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ الْمَوْتَى} قَالَ قَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ فَأَرِنَا أَشْيَاخَنَا الْأُوَلَ مِنَ الْمَوْتَى نُكَلِّمْهُمْ وَافْتَحْ لَنَا هَذِهِ الْجِبَالَ جِبَالَ مَكَّةَ الَّتِي قَدْ ضَمَّتْنَا فَنَزَلَتْ {وَلَوْ أَنَّ قُرْآنًا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ الْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ الْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ الْمَوْتَى}

✧ "If a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were split asunder, or the dead were made to speak..." He said: They said to the Prophet ﷺ, "If it is as you say, then show us our forefathers from among the dead so we may speak to them, and open for us these mountains—the mountains of Makkah that have enclosed us." Then it was revealed: "And if there had been a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were split asunder, or the dead were made to speak..."
