حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَهُوَ مُقِيمٌ عَلَى غَيْرِ خَوْفٍ وَلَا شَيْءٍ اضْطَرَّهُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ» فَقَالُوا فَلِمَ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ؟ قَالَ «أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined Zuhr and ʿAsr, and combined Maghrib and ʿIsha in Madinah while he was resident, without fear or anything that compelled him to do so." They said, "Why, O Abu ʿAbbas?" He said, "He wanted not to cause hardship to his Ummah."
