حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ فِي قَبِيلَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ شَرِبُوا حَتَّى إِذَا ثَمِلُوا عَبَثَ بَعْضُهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ فَلَمَّا صَحَوْا جَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَرَى الْأَثَرَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَبِرَأْسِهِ وَبِلِحْيَتِهِ يَقُولُ فَعَلَ بِي هَذَا أَخِي فُلَانٌ فَوَاللهِ لَوْ كَانَ بِي رَءُوفًا رَحِيمًا مَا فَعَلَ هَذَا بِي قَالَ وَكَانُوا أُخْوَةً لَيْسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ ضَغَائِنُ فَوَقَعَتْ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الضَّغَائِنُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنْصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمِلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ فِي الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللهِ وَعَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُنْتَهُونَ} فَقَالَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ هِيَ رِجْسٌ وَهِيَ فِي بَطْنِ فُلَانٍ قُتِلَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَفُلَانٍ قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا} الْآيَةَ

✧ The prohibition of wine was revealed concerning two tribes of the Ansar. They drank until, when they became intoxicated, they started playing with one another. When they sobered up, a man would see the marks on his face, his head, and his beard, and say: "My brother So-and-so did this to me. By Allah, if he had been kind and merciful to me, he would not have done this to me." They had been brothers with no rancor in their hearts, but rancor fell into their hearts. So Allah ﷻ revealed: {Indeed, wine, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through wine and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?} Then some people who were scrupulous said: "It is defilement, and it is in the belly of So-and-so who was killed on the day of Badr, and So-and-so who was killed on the day of Uhud." So Allah ﷻ revealed: {There is not upon those who believe and do righteousness [any] blame concerning what they have eaten} [the rest of] the verse.
