حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عُبَادَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي وَحْشِيَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
فِي قَوْلِهِ {وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَابْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ سَبِيلًا} قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى بِهِمْ جَهَرَ بِالْقُرْآنِ» فَإِذَا سَمِعَهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ سَبُّوهُ وَسَبُّوا مَنْ جَاءَ بِهِ فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيْهِ {وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ} فَيَسْمَعُهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ فَيَسُبُّوهُ {وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا} قَالَ «أَسْمِعْ أَصْحَابَكَ» {وَابْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ سَبِيلًا}

✧ "In His saying, 'And do not make your prayer too loud or too low, but seek between that a way.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the Qur'an with a loud voice during prayer. When the polytheists heard him, they insulted him and those who brought him. So Allah revealed to him, 'And do not make your prayer too loud.' Then the polytheists would hear him and insult him. 'And do not make your prayer too low.' He said, 'Inform your companions.' 'But seek between that a way.'"
