حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ثنا حُسَيْنٌ الْأَشْقَرُ ثنا نُصَيْرُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ أَبِي الْيَقْظَانِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ لَوْ جَمَعْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَالًا فَبَسَطَ يَدَهُ لَا يَحُولُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ أَحَدٌ فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نَجْمَعَ لَكَ مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى} فَخَرَجُوا مُخْتَلِفِينَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَرَوْا إلى مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِنَّمَا قَالَ هَذَا لِنُقَاتِلَ عَنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَنَنْصُرَهُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللهِ كَذِبًا} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِ} فَعَرَضَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالتَّوْبَةِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَيَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ} هُمُ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا هَذَا أَنْ تَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللهِ وَتَسْتَغْفِرُوهُ

✧ The Ansar said among themselves: "If we were to gather wealth for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would stretch out his hand and no one could come between him and it." So they came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we intended to gather for you from our wealth." Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {Say: I do not ask you for it any reward, except love for the near of kin.} They went out disagreeing. Some of them said: "Did you not see what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said?" Others said: "He only said this so that we fight for his family and support them." Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {Or do they say: He has fabricated a lie against Allah?} up to His saying: {And He it is who accepts repentance from His servants.} The Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered them repentance, up to His saying: {And He responds to those who believe and do righteous deeds, and increases them from His bounty.} They are the ones who said this, that you should repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness.
