حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْعَطَّارُ ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِذَا الْيَهُودُ يَصُومُونَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ «مَا بَالُ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ؟» قَالَ «يَوْمٌ أَنْجَى اللهُ فِيهِ مُوسَى وَأَغْرَقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَنَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِمُوسَى فَصَامَهُ وَأَمَرَ بِصِيَامِهِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came and found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked, "What is the significance of this day?" They replied, "This is the day when Allah saved Moses and drowned the people of Israel, so we fast it out of gratitude and commemorate it."
