✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "Sulayman, the Prophet of God ﷺ, when he stood in his place of prayer, saw a tree standing firmly before him. He said to it: 'What is your name?' It replied: 'The carob.' He said: 'For what purpose are you?' It replied: 'For the ruin of this house.' So Sulayman said: 'O God, conceal my death from the jinn so that humans know that the jinn do not know the unseen.' He carved it into a staff upon which he leaned, and the woodworm ate it, so it fell, and he collapsed. They estimated its consumption by the woodworm and found it to be a year. Thus it became clear to humans that if the jinn had known the unseen, they would not have remained in the humiliating punishment for a year. Ibn Abbas used to recite it thus: 'The jinn thanked the woodworm, and it used to bring water to it wherever it was.'"
