حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَوْسَجَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا يَمْنَعُ حَبَشَ بَنِي الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنْ يَأْتُوكَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ أَنْ تَرُدَّهُمْ قَالَ لَا خَيْرَ فِي الْحَبَشِ إِذَا جَاعُوا سَرَقُوا وَإِنْ شَبِعُوا زَنَوْا وَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ لخُلَّتَيْنِ حَسَنَتَيْنِ إِطْعَامُ الطَّعَامِ وبأسٌ عِنْدَ الْبَأْسِ

✧ It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, nothing prevents the Ethiopians of Banu al-Mughira from coming to you except that they fear you will reject them." He said: "There is no good in the Ethiopians: when they are hungry they steal, and when they are full they fornicate. Yet they have two good qualities: feeding food and courage in battle."
