حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْمَعَافِرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْغَنَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَتُفْتَحَنَّ الْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةُ وَلَنِعْمَ الْأَمِيرُ أَمِيرُهَا وَلَنِعْمَ الْجَيْشُ ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشُ» فَدَعَانِي مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَسَأَلَنِي عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ بِهِ فَغَزَا تِلْكَ السَّنَةَ

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Constantinople will surely be conquered, and excellent is its commander, and excellent is that army!" Then Maslama b. 'Abd al-Malik called me and asked me about this hadith, so I narrated it to him, and he campaigned that year.
