حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فِي الْهُدْنَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ عِنْدَ بَابِ النَّدْوَةِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْحَجَرِ وَقَدْ تَحَدَّثُوا أَنَّ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابِهِ جَهْدًا وهَزْلًا فَلَمَّا اسْتَلَمُوا الْحَجَرَ قَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهُمْ تَحَدَّثُوا أَنَّ بِكُمْ جَهْدًا وهَزْلًا فَارْمُلُوا الثَّلَاثَ أَشْوَاطٍ حَتَّى يَرَوْنَ أَنَّ بِكُمْ قُوَّةً» فَلَمَّا اسْتَلَمُوا الْحَجَرَ رَفَعُوا أَرْجُلَهُمْ فَرَمَلُوا فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَلَيْسَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ بِهِمْ جَهْدًا وهَزْلًا لَا يَرْضَوْنَ بِالْمَشْي حَتَّى يَسْعَوْنَ سَعْيًا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions arrived during the truce that was between him and the polytheists, while the polytheists were at the door of the assembly house, near the Black Stone. They had been saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions were suffering from hardship and weakness. When they touched the Black Stone, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: "They have been saying that you are suffering from hardship and weakness, so walk briskly (ramal) for three circuits so that they may see that you have strength." When they touched the Black Stone, they lifted their legs and walked briskly. Then some of them said to others: "Do they claim that they are suffering from hardship and weakness? They are not content with walking until they run at a fast pace."
