حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ {وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ} قَالَ «الْفَضْلُ عَلَى الْعِيَالِ»

Translation

✧ Regarding His saying: "They ask you what they should spend. Say: 'The surplus'" (Q 2:219), he said: "What is beyond the needs of one's dependents."
