حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُنِيبِ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ

عَلِيٌّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ لِي يَوْمَ أَحَدٍ حِينَ أُخْرِجْتُ عَنِ الشَّهَادَةِ وَاسْتُشْهِدَ مَنِ اسْتُشْهِدَ «إِنَّ الشَّهَادَةَ مِنْ ورائِكَ قَالَ كَيْفَ صَبْرُكَ إِذَا خُضِبَتْ هَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ وَأَهْوَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَى لِحْيَتِهِ وَرَأْسِهِ» فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَمَا بَيَّنْتَ مَا بَيَّنْتَ فَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ مَوَاطِنِ الصَّبْرِ وَلَكِنْ هُوَ مِنْ مَوَاطِنِ الْبُشْرَى وَالْكَرَامَةِ

✧ 'Ali said, "O Messenger of God, you said to me on the day of Uhud, when I was kept from martyrdom and those who were martyred were martyred, 'Martyrdom is behind you.' He said, 'How will you be patient when this is dyed from this?' and he gestured with his hand to his beard and head." 'Ali said, "Since you have made clear what you have made clear, that is not among the occasions of patience but rather among the occasions of glad tidings and honor."
