حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي اللَّيْثِ ثنا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ {مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَغُلَّ} قَالَ فِي قَطِيفَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَقَدُوها يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَقَالُوا أَخَذَهَا فَنَزَلَتْ {وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَغُلَّ}

✧ From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding {It is not for a prophet to be dishonest}: He said: It concerned a red velvet cloak that was lost on the day of Badr, and they said he took it, so there was revealed {And it is not for a prophet to be dishonest}.
