حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِكْرِمَةَ يَذْكُرُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ «إِنَّ اللهَ جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ حَرَّمَ مَكَّةَ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فَهِيَ حَرَامٌ بِحَرَامِ اللهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يُنَفَّرُ صَيْدُهَا وَلَا يُعْضَدُ شَجَرُهَا وَلَا يُخْتَلَى خَلَاهَا وَلَا يَحِلُّ لُقَطَتُهَا إِلَّا لِمُنْشِدٍ» فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ إِلَّا الْإِذْخِرَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ لَا بُدَّ لِلْقَيْنِ وَالْبُيُوتِ فَسَكَتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَاعَةً فَقَالَ «إِلَّا الْإِذْخِرَ إِنَّهُ حَلَالٌ»

✧ "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Mecca's conquest, 'Indeed, Allah, may His remembrance be glorified, made Mecca sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth. It is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Judgment. Its game should not be disturbed, its trees should not be cut, its grass should not be uprooted, and its prey should not be chased except by a skilled poet.' So Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib said, 'Except for the incense, O Messenger of Allah, the needs of the people and homes require it.' The Prophet ﷺ remained silent for a while and then said, 'Except for incense, for it is permissible.'"
