حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ عَلِيلٌ يَشُقُّ عَلِيَّ الْقِيَامُ فَمُرْنِي بِلَيْلَةٍ لَعَلَّ اللهَ أَنْ يُوَفِّقَنِي فِيهَا لَلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالسَّابِعَةِ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “O Prophet of Allah, my father is a very old, sick man for whom standing is difficult. Tell me which night I should seek so that Allah may grant me success in it—the Night of Decree.” He said: “Look for the seventh.”
