حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ §لَقِيَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ يَوْمَ مُسَيْلِمَةَ رَجُلًا يُقَالُ لَهُ حِمَارُ الْيَمَامَةَ قَالَ

«رَجُلٌ طُوَالٌ فِي يَدِهِ سَيْفٌ أَبْيَضُ» قَالَ «وَكَانَ الْبَرَاءُ رَجُلًا قَصِيرًا فَضَرَبَ الْبَرَاءُ رِجْلَيْهِ بِالسَّيْفِ فَكَأَنَّمَا أَخْطَأَهُ فَوَقَعَ عَلَى قَفَاهُ» قَالَ «فَأَخَذْتُ سَيْفَهُ وأَغْمَدْتُ سَيْفِي فَمَا ضَرَبْتُ إِلَّا ضَرْبَةً وَاحِدَةً حَتَّى انْقَطَعَ فَأَلْقَيْتُهُ وَأَخَذْتُ سَيْفِي»

✧ "A tall man with a white sword in his hand." He said: "Al-Bara' was a short man. Al-Bara' struck his legs with the sword, and it seemed to miss him, and he fell on his back." He said: "I took his sword and sheathed my own, and I struck only once until it broke, so I threw it away and took my sword."
