حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ ابْنُ الْغَسِيلِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ قَدْ عَصَبَ رَأْسَهُ بِعِصَابَةٍ دَسْمَاءَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْثُرُونَ وَيَقِلُّ الْأَنْصَارُ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا فِي النَّاسِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْمِلْحِ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَمَنْ وَلِي مِنْكُمْ أَمْرًا يَنْفَعُ قَوْمًا وَيَضُرُّ آخَرِينَ فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَلْيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ» قَالَ فَكَانَ آخِرَ خُطْبَةٍ خَطَبَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى مَاتَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, ascended the pulpit with a thick bandage wrapped around his head. He praised and extolled Allah, then he said, "Indeed, people are increasing in number while the Ansar (the helpers) are decreasing to the point where they will be like salt in a dish. So whoever among you assumes a position of authority and benefits some people while harming others, let him accept the good deeds of the righteous and overlook the mistakes of others." This was the last sermon that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, delivered before he passed away.
