حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

«إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ فَضَّلَ مُحَمَّدًا عَلَى أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ» فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ وَمَا فَضْلُهُ عَلَى أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ لِأَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ {وَمَنْ يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي إِلَهٌ مِنْ دُونِهِ فَذَلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ} وَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ} الْآيَةَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ فَمَا فَضْلُهُ عَلَى الْأَنْبِيَاءِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ {وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ} وَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ {وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا كَافَّةً لِلنَّاسِ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا} فَأَرْسَلَهُ اللهُ إِلَى الْإِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ

✧ “Indeed God ﷻ favored Muhammad over the inhabitants of the heavens and over the inhabitants of the earth.” A man said to him, “O Abu ʿAbbas, what is his favor over the inhabitants of the heavens?” He said, “God ﷻ says to the inhabitants of the heavens, {And whoever of them says, ‘I am a god besides Him,’ that one We shall recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.} And God ﷻ said to Muhammad ﷺ, {Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, that God may forgive you your past and future sins.} — the verse. It was said to him, “O Abu ʿAbbas, what is his favor over the prophets?” He said, “God ﷻ says, {And We did not send any messenger except with the tongue of his people.} And God ﷻ said to Muhammad ﷺ, {And We have not sent you except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner to all mankind.} So God sent him to humans and jinn.”
