حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ أَوْ أُخْبِرْتُهُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَصَابَهُ جُدَرِيٌّ فَأَجْنَبَ فَغَسَلَ فَكُزَّ فَمَاتَ فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «قَتَلُوهُ قَتَلَهُمِ اللهُ أَلَمْ يَكُنْ شِفَاءُ الْعِيِّ السُّؤَالَ أَلَا يَمَّمُوهُ»

✧ A man contracted chickenpox, so he isolated himself. He washed and then covered himself, but he passed away. The Prophet ﷺ was informed, and he said, "They killed him. May Allah kill them! Wasn't the cure for skin diseases to ask for it to be rubbed on him?"
