✧ Al-ʿAbbās came to the Prophet ﷺ at a time when he did not usually come to him. It was said: “O Messenger of God, this is your uncle at the door.” He said: “Give him permission, for he has come for some matter.” When he entered upon him, he said: “What has brought you, O uncle, at this hour, and it is not your usual time when you come?” He said: “O son of my brother, I remembered the Jāhiliyyah and its ignorance, and the world seemed narrow to me despite its vastness. I said: Who will relieve me? And I knew that no one would relieve me except God, then you.” He said: “Praise be to God who put this in your heart. I wish Abū Ṭālib had taken his share, but God does what He wills.” He said: “Shall I grant you a gift?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “I give you.” He said: “Yes.” He said: “Shall I grant you a gift?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “When there is an hour in which prayer is offered, not after ʿAṣr nor after sunrise, but between those, then perform your ablution thoroughly. Then stand before God and recite the Fātiḥah of the Book and a sūrah, if you wish make it from the beginning of the Mufaṣṣal. When you finish the sūrah, say: Subḥān Allāh, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāh, wa lā ilāha illā llāh, wa-llāhu akbar fifteen times. Then when you bow, say that ten times. Then when you raise your head, say that ten times.”
