حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ النَّسَائِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ثنا عَوْنُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الصَّائِغِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
انْتَظَرُوا الصَّلَاةَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَرَقَدُوا ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظْنَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ وَقَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يُؤَخِّرُوا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ إِلَى هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ» فَنَظَرْنَا فَإِذَا هُوَ شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ

✧ They waited for the prayer with the Messenger of God ﷺ in the mosque, and they slept. Then we woke up three times. The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and prayed ʿIshāʾ, and he said: “Were it not that I would make it difficult for the people, I would command them to delay this prayer until this time.” We looked, and it was the middle of the night.
