حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ وَهَبَ هِبَةً فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِبَتِهِ مَا لَمْ يُثَبْ مِنْهَا فَإِنْ رَجَعَ فِي هِبَتِهِ فَهُوَ كَالَّذِي يَقِيءُ وَيَأْكُلُ قَيْئَهُ»
Translation
Chain of narrators
- Muḥammad b. ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah from my father
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever gives a gift has more right to his gift as long as he is not recompensed for it. But if he takes back his gift, he is like one who vomits and then eats his own vomit."
