حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الضَّمْرِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ

إِنِّي أُسَافِرُ فَأَقْصِرُ الصَّلَاةَ فِي السَّفَرِ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ لَيْسَ بِقَصْرٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ تَمَامُهَا وَسُنَّةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ آمِنًا لَا يَخَافُ إِلَّا اللهَ فَصَلَّى اثْنَتَيْنِ حَتَّى رَجَعَ»

✧ “I travel, should I shorten the prayer during travel?” Ibn ʿAbbas ؓ said: “It is not shortening; rather it is its complete form and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out secure, fearing none but Allah, and prayed two rakʿahs until he returned.”
