حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ يَهُودَ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا سَبْعَةُ آلَافِ سَنَةٍ وَإِنَّمَا نُعَذَّبُ لِكُلِّ أَلْفِ سَنَةٍ يَوْمًا فِي النَّارِ وَإِنَّمَا هِي سَبْعَةُ أَيَّامٍ مَعْدُودَاتٌ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ فِي ذَلِكَ وَقَالُوا {لَنْ تَمَسَّنا النَّارُ إِلَّا أَيَّامًا مَعْدُودَةً} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ}

✧ The Jews used to say, “This world is seven thousand years, and we will be punished only one day in the Fire for every thousand years, so it will be only seven counted days.” Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed concerning that: “And they say, ‘The Fire will not touch us except for counted days’” up to His saying “abiding therein forever.”
