حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ الزَّيَّاتُ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا أَبِي عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَسْقَى فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مُغِيثًا مَرِيعًا طَبَقًا عَاجِلًا غَيْرَ رَائِثٍ نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ» فَمَا لَبِثْنَا أَنْ مُطِرْنَا حَتَّى سَالَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَتَوْهُ فَقَالُوا قَدْ غَرِقْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ prayed for rain, saying: “O Allah, grant us a downpour that is relieving, abundant, widespread, swift, not delayed, beneficial, and not harmful.” Before long we were rained upon until everything flowed, until they came to him and said: “We have been flooded.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Allah, around us and not upon us.”
