حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ عَنِ الرَّضْرَاضِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ أُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَيَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ كُنْتُ مِمَّا أُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَتُرَدَّ عَلَيَّ فَسَلَّمْتُ فَلَمْ تُرَدَّ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُحْدِثُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ مَا شَاءَ»

✧ I used to greet the Prophet ﷺ and he would return my greeting, but I greeted him and he did not return it. I said: I used to greet you and you would return my greeting, but I greeted you and you did not return it. He said: “Allah, Mighty and Majestic, brings about whatever He wills in His command.”
