حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ كُرْدُوسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
مَرَّ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعِنْدَهُ أُنَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَصُهَيْبٌ وَخَبَّابٌ فَقَالُوا يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَهَؤُلَاءِ مَنَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا؟ لَوْ طَرَدْتَ هَؤُلَاءِ لَاتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهَمْ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {أَلَيْسَ اللهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِالشَّاكِرِينَ}

✧ A group of the nobles of Quraysh passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while some Muslims, including Suhayb and Khabbab, were with him. They said: "O Muhammad, are these the ones Allah has favored from among us? If you were to drive these away, we would follow you." Then Allah, glorified and exalted, revealed: {And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face} up to His saying: {Is not Allah most knowing of the thankful?}
