حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عَوْنُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّهْشَلِيُّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ ارْتَقَى الصَّفَا فَأَخَذَ بِلِسَانِهِ فَقَالَ
يَا لِسَانُ قُلْ خَيْرًا تَغْنَمْ وَاسْكُتْ عَنْ شَرٍّ تَسْلَمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَنْدَمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَكْثَرُ خَطَايَا ابنِ آدَمَ فِي لِسَانِهِ»

✧ O tongue, speak good and you will gain, and be silent from evil and you will be safe, before you regret. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'Most of the sins of the son of Adam are from his tongue.'
