حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَابِسٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
كَانَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ مُحَرَّرٌ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَقَدِمَ سَبْيٌ بَلْعَنْبَرَ فَأَمَرَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ تُعْتِقَ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مُحَرَّرٌ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَلَا يُعْتِقْ مِنْ حِمْيَرَ أَحَدًا» قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَابِسٍ فَقُلْتُ لِإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ مَا كَانَ حِمْيَرُ؟ قَالَ هُوَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ

✧ Aisha had an obligation to free a slave from the descendants of Isma'il. Captives from Bal'anbar arrived, and the Prophet ﷺ commanded her to free from among them, and he said: “Whoever has an obligation to free a slave from the descendants of Isma'il, let him not free anyone from Himyar.” Ali b. 'Abis said: I said to Isma'il b. Abi Khalid: What was Himyar? He said: He is greater than Isma'il.
