حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ الْأَحْدَبُ ثنا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ الْكَلْبِيُّ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَزَالُ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي قُلُوبُهُمْ عَلَى قَلْبِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يَدْفَعُ اللهُ بِهِمْ عَنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ يُقَالُ لَهُمُ الْأَبْدَالُ» قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يُدْرِكُوهَا بِصَلَاةٍ وَلَا بِصَوْمٍ وَلَا صَدَقَةٍ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَبِمَ أَدْرَكُوهَا؟ قَالَ «بِالسَّخَاءِ وَالنَّصِيحَةِ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There will always be forty men of my community whose hearts are like the heart of Abraham; Allah repels harm from the people of the earth through them. They are called al-Abdal.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'They did not attain this through prayer, fasting, or charity.' They said: O Messenger of Allah, how did they attain it? He said: 'Through generosity and sincere counsel to the Muslims.'
