حَدَّثَنَا جَبْرُونَ بْنُ عِيسَى الْمُقْرِئُ بِمِصْرَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْحَفَرِيُّ الْمُقْرِئُ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَشْرَبَ قَلْبَهُ حُبَّ الدُّنْيَا الْتَاطَ مِنْهَا بِثَلَاثٍ شَقَاءٍ لَا يَنْفَدُ عَنَاهُ وَحِرْصٍ لَا يَبْلُغُ غِنَاهُ وَأَمَلٍ لَا يَبْلُغُ مُنْتَهَاهُ فَالدُّنْيَا طَالِبَةٌ وَمَطْلُوبَةٌ فَمَنْ طَلَبَ الدُّنْيَا طَلَبَتْهُ الْآخِرَةُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْمَوْتُ فَيَأْخُذَهُ وَمَنْ طَلَبَ الْآخِرَةَ طَلَبَتْهُ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَ مِنْهَا رِزْقَهُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever makes his heart drink the love of this world will cleave to three things from it: misery whose weariness never ends, greed whose wealth is never attained, and hope whose end is never reached. This world is both pursuing and pursued. Whoever pursues the world, the Hereafter pursues him until death comes and seizes him. Whoever pursues the Hereafter, the world pursues him until he receives his provision from it in full.”
