حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنَاذِرٍ الشَّاعِرُ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْكُوفِيُّ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْقَتْلَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ قَالَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ لَوْ أَنَّ أَبَا طَالِبٍ حَيٌّ لَعَلِمَ أَنَّ أَسْيَافَنَا قَدْ أَخَذَتْ بِالْمَآثِلِ وَلِذَلِكَ يَقُولُ أَبُو طَالِبٍ
Translation

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ looked at the slain on the day of Badr, he said to Abu Bakr: "If Abu Talib were alive, he would know that our swords have taken hold of the chiefs." And that is why Abu Talib says:
