حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا بَكَّارُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ السِّرِينِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى بِلَالٍ فَوَجَدَ عِنْدَهُ صُبْرًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا يَا بِلَالُ؟» فَقَالَ تَمْرٌ أَدَّخِرُهُ قَالَ «وَيْحَكَ يَا بِلَالُ أَوَمَا تَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ بُخَارٌ فِي النَّارِ؟ أَنْفِقْ يَا بِلَالُ وَلَا تَخْشَ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon Bilal and found a heap of dates with him. He said: “What is this, O Bilal?” He said: Dates I am storing. He said: “Woe to you, O Bilal! Do you not fear that it will have a vapor in the Fire? Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear poverty from the Possessor of the Throne.”
