✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ had dates with me, and they became spoiled. I took them out to the market and sold two sāʿs for one sāʿ. When I brought some of them near to him, he said: “What is this, O Bilal?” I informed him. He said: “Wait, return the sale, then sell dates for gold, silver, or wheat, then buy dates with it.” Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Dates for dates, equal for equal; wheat for wheat, equal for equal; gold for gold, weight for weight; silver for silver, weight for weight. But when the two types differ, there is no harm in one for ten.”
