حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاهِرٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَقْبَلَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ فَلَمَّا رَآهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْمَرَّ وَجْهُهُ وَاغْرَوْرَقَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا نَزَالُ نَرَى بِوَجْهِكَ شَيْئًا نَكْرَهُهُ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ اخْتَارَ اللهُ لَنَا الْآخِرَةَ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِي سَيَلْقَوْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِي بَلَاءً وَتَطْرِيدًا»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a group of Banu Hashim approached. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw them, his face reddened and his eyes welled up. We said, “O Messenger of Allah, we keep seeing something in your face that we dislike.” He said, “We are a household for whom Allah has chosen the Hereafter over this world, and my household will face trials and expulsion after me.”
