✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man from the Ansar, known as Ibn al-Lutbiyyah, to collect zakah. When he returned, the Prophet ﷺ sent for him to settle his accounts. He said: 'This is for you, and this was given to me as a gift.' This reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: 'We appoint men from among you over what Allah has entrusted to us. When one of you returns, he says: "This is for you, and this was given to me as a gift." Why does he not sit in the house of his father and mother and see whether he would be given gifts? Whoever among you does any work for us, let him bring us all of it, whether little or much. Let any of you beware of coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel that he carries on his neck, bellowing, or a cow that lows, or a sheep that bleats.'
