حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقَطَّانُ الْمِصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ:
قُدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِسَبْيٍ، فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ السَّبْيِ تَسْعَى، إِذَا وَجَدَتْ صَبِيًّا فِي السَّبْيِ فَأَخَذَتْهُ، فَأَلْصَقَتْهُ بِبَطْنِهَا وَأَرْضَعَتْهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ طَارِحَةً وَلَدَهَا فِي النَّارِ ؟ " قُلْنَا: لَا وَاللهِ، وَهِيَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تَطْرَحَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - أَرْحَمُ بِعِبَادِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةِ بِوَلَدِهَا

✧ Some captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there was a woman among the captives who was running about. When she found a baby among the captives, she took him, pressed him to her belly and nursed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do you think this woman would throw her child into the fire?' We said: 'No, by Allah, while she is able not to throw him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child.'
