حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الصَّفَّارُ الرَّمْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شِبْلُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ: مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْأَلْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرِّيحِ. قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: فَقُلْتُ: قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهَا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الرِّيحُ مِمَّ هِيَ ؟ فَقَالَ: مِنْ رَوْحِ اللهِ يَبْعَثُهَا بِالرَّحْمَةِ، وَيَبْعَثُهَا بِالْعَذَابِ

Abu Hurayrah said: I asked him about it: O Messenger of God, what is the wind? He said: It is from the breath of God; He sends it with mercy and He sends it with punishment.
