✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal went out seeking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but he did not find him. He searched for him in his houses but did not find him. He followed him from lane to lane until he was directed to him on Mount Thawab. He went out and climbed Mount Thawab, looked right and left, and caught sight of him in the cave that people had taken as a path to the Mosque of Victory. Mu'adh said: "There he was, prostrating. I descended from the top of the mountain while he was prostrating, and he did not raise his head until I thought ill of him, thinking that he had been taken in death. When he raised his head, I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I thought ill of you, thinking that you had passed away.' He said: 'Jibril ﷺ came to me in this spot and said: "Verily Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sends you greetings of peace and says to you: What would you love Me to do with your nation?" I said: "Allah knows best." He departed, then came back to me and said: "He says: I will not cause you grief regarding your nation." So I prostrated. The best means by which one draws near to Allah is prostration.'"
