وَبِهِ: نَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ
أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ - حَائِضًا - تَطْلِيقَةً وَاحِدَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَسَأَلَ عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ " فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُرَاجِعَهَا، ثُمَّ يُمْسِكَهَا حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ، ثُمَّ تَحِيضَ عِنْدَهُ حَيْضَةً أُخْرَى، ثُمَّ يُمْسِكَهَا حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ، فَإِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَ فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُجَامِعَهَا، فَإِنَّ تِلْكَ الْعِدَّةُ الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَا
Translation

✧ 'Abdullah b. 'Umar divorced his wife while she was menstruating—a single divorce—during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. 'Umar asked the Prophet ﷺ about that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to take her back, then keep her until she became pure, then menstruate another menstrual period while with him, then keep her until she became pure. Then if he wanted to divorce her, he should divorce her before having intercourse with her. For that is the waiting period which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has commanded.
