حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، نَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ - مَوْلَى آلِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ - عَنْ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:
إِنَّ عَبْدًا مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ قَالَ: أَيْ رَبِّ، لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِجَلَالِ وَجْهِكَ وَلِعَظِيمِ سُلْطَانِكَ، فَأَعْضَلَتْ بِالْمَلَكَيْنِ، فَصَعِدَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، فَقَالَا: أَيْ رَبِّ، عَبْدُكَ قَدْ قَالَ مَقَالَةً مَا نَدْرِي كَيْفَ نَكْتُبُهَا

✧ A servant from among the servants of Allah said: 'O Lord, to You belongs praise as befits the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your authority.' The two recording angels were confounded, so they ascended to the lowest heaven and said: 'O Lord, Your servant has said a statement, and we do not know how to record it.'
