✧ Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah—the freed slave of a woman from the Ansar—was adopted by Abu Hudhayfah just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ adopted Zayd b. Harithah. In the time of ignorance, whoever adopted a man, people would call him to that man and he would inherit from his estate, until Allah revealed: "Call them by their fathers; that is more just in the sight of Allah."
