✧ A man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ upon his return from Hunayn, while in Bilal’s garment there was silver that he was taking from and giving to the people. He said, “O Muhammad, be just.” He said, “Woe to you! Who will be just if I am not just? I would have failed and lost if I were not just.” Then Umar b. al-Khattab said, “Let me kill this hypocrite.” He said, “God forbid that people should say that I kill my companions. This man and his companions recite the Quran, but it does not go beyond their collarbones. They pass out of the religion as the arrow passes through the game.”
