✧ Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, but fasting is for Me, and I reward it. The unpleasant odor of the mouth of a fasting person is more fragrant with Allah than the scent of musk. He gives up his wife, his desire, his food, and his drink for My sake, so it is for Me, and I reward it. The fasting person has two joys: a joy when he breaks his fast, and a joy when he meets Me. Fasting is a shield; if anyone fights or insults him, he should not respond but say, 'I am fasting.'
